Agrobiomics, a Nordic bio-agriculture company, has secured €1.5 million from Denmark’s Green Development and Demonstration Programme (GUDP) to support its BIORESCUE project. This initiative focuses on validating a natural metabolite-based biostimulant, PTA, to increase the resilience of cereal crops against drought and climate-related stressors.
The project involves collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, Agrolab, and SEGES Innovation P/S, utilizing advanced screening techniques and field-testing setups to ensure local applicability. Funding will enhance research geared toward mitigating extreme weather impacts on Danish agriculture while also exploring broader sustainable food production applications.
Agrobiomics specializes in nature-inspired solutions aimed at improving agricultural productivity and resilience. The BIORESCUE project aims to address crop vulnerability to severe weather, with PTA designed to bolster drought resistance in cereals.
Upon receiving the funding, CEO Ananda Scherner highlighted the importance of the grant for accelerating the technology’s development and validation in Danish conditions. The partnership with leading research institutions will facilitate robust testing and development of next-generation biostimulants.
Ultimately, BIORESCUE seeks to strengthen crop resilience in Denmark, leading to more stable yields for farmers during droughts and contributing to the advancement of resilient agri-food systems in the region.
