PACT, a company dedicated to developing biomaterials inspired by nature, has raised £9 million in seed funding to support its innovative projects. This funding will enhance the production and reach of PACT’s flagship product, Oval, recognized as the world’s first scalable and climate-responsible biomaterial made from natural collagen.
The introduction of Oval is drawing attention from the fashion industry, with several leading luxury brands collaborating with PACT to explore its creative possibilities. The capital will help scale production capabilities and advance research in biomaterials.
PACT has also established a new 13,820 square foot headquarters in Cambridge, featuring a laboratory and pilot production facility to facilitate this expansion.
Founded in 2020 by CEO Yudí Ding and COO Niels Ramay, PACT’s origins trace back to Ding’s PhD research at the University of Cambridge, where he investigated proteins in and around cells.
Ding emphasized PACT’s commitment to creating adaptable materials derived from nature, stating, “We have dedicated substantial effort into our innovations to ensure they meet the standards of esteemed brands while being scalable.”
Hoxton Ventures’ Charles Seely expressed enthusiasm for PACT’s mission, highlighting the team’s talent and the potential of their biomaterial technology to meet the rigorous demands of luxury brands and beyond.
