Adven Group, and  KPA Unicon have signed a contract for the supply of a 30 MW biomass-fired steam boiler plant to the Naantali harbor area in Western Finland. Adven Group is one of the Finnish leading providers of energy and water solutions throughout countries in the Nordic and Baltic regions, while KPA Unicon is a biomass combustion technology provider.

According to the released statement, the delivery includes a 10 MW Unicon Renegrate bio boiler plant, as well as a backup and peak load boilers (2 x 10 MW). The facility will be powered by renewable wood-based fuels.

The plant will produce process steam for Adven’s end customer Finnfeeds Finland Oy in Naantali harbor, which produces betaine separated from sugar beet-based solutions.

Betaine is used in the cosmetics, feed, nutrition, and chemical industries.

Expected to be completed by the end of 2022, the new bioheat plant is contemplated to slash Finnfeeds Finland’s annual CO2 emissions by 2.000 to 3.000 tonnes.

“I am delighted that our long-term cooperation with Adven will continue and we will work together to reduce CO2 emissions. We believe that our cooperation will be smooth, as in our previous joint projects”, said Pertti Sipola, Sales Manager, KPA Unicon.
