Yangi deploys first serial Cellera dry forming platform at European converter

Swedish packaging technology company Yangi has commissioned its first serial Cellera dry forming platform at a European converter’s production site, marking the commercial debut of its water-free fiber packaging technology.

The platform performed reliably under full industrial conditions, with the company reporting high uptime, fast production cycles and consistent product quality. Dry-formed products are expected to reach the market later this year.

“Having the first serial Cellera platform operating at a customer site is a major milestone for Yangi and the industry,” said CEO Johann Kaiser. “It reflects years of development in dry forming technology and validates key aspects of our technology’s performance, stability, and readiness for high-volume packaging production.”

At the core of the Cellera platform is FiberIQ, Yangi’s patented fiber-formation system. It controls fiber distribution precisely throughout the forming process, giving converters close oversight of product structure and material use.

Because the process eliminates water-based molding entirely, it reduces resource consumption and CO₂ emissions by 70 to 80% compared with conventional plastic alternatives. The finished fiber products are compatible with existing paper recycling streams.

Chief Commercial Officer Hanna Rüdel said converters and brands are looking for solutions that combine operational performance with better resource efficiency. “The performance achieved at the customer site demonstrates that dry forming can be deployed for high-volume industrial food packaging production in a real manufacturing environment,” she said.

The Cellera platform was developed in collaboration with GDM, a Coesia company, and AP&T. Yangi says the partnership brought proven industrial machine execution to the project, supporting reliable and repeatable production.

The commissioning positions Cellera as a complete industrial system for high-performance, circular fiber packaging. Yangi says it enables a new category of scalable, resource-efficient packaging for the food sector.
