Bolt Projects Holdings enhances beauty sector presence with vegan silk tech

Bolt Projects Holdings (Nasdaq: BSLK) is transforming its operations to expand its Vegan Silk Technology Platform in the beauty and personal care sectors. Central to this initiative is b-silk, a biodegradable polypeptide that acts as a film former, offering enhanced benefits across haircare, skincare, and color cosmetics.

CEO Dan Widmaier highlighted the effectiveness of b-silk, stating, “Since its market introduction in 2018, b-silk has consistently delivered proven consumer satisfaction.”

In the third quarter of 2024, the company launched two new sunscreen products—Daily Defender SPF30 and Peak Performance SPF50—under the Freaks of Nature brand, aiming to boost its profile in the sunscreen category.

The success of b-silk is also evident in the haircare market, where it has been incorporated into Vegamour’s GRO Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner since 2020, contributing to an annual revenue of $3.4 million in 2023.

Looking ahead, an additional product featuring b-silk is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025 from an unnamed cosmetics brand. President Cintia Nardi remarked, “This product showcases the innovative potential of our Vegan Silk Technology Platform to redefine high-performance formulations.”
