Orsted, the Danish company and world leader in wind power, has made it crystal clear that they have no plans of staying in a plateau. They recently announced an investment plan to become the number one company in green and renewable energy of 57 billion USD.
Although Orsted is already perceived by many as the undeniable leader in offshore wind power, they aren’t blind to their competition’s investments and plans to become stronger. BP and Shell, major oil companies, have both made big commitments towards renewables, and Orsted is not backing down.
Orsted made the strong claim that they will increase their renewable energy capacity to reach 50GW by 2030. It’s currently at 30GW. The company gave a short run down of how they will manage: “30GW will come from offshore wind, 17.5 GW from onshore wind and solar photovoltaics and approximately 2.5GW from other renewables, including sustainable biomass and renewable hydrogen.”
With more consumers and companies interested in solar and wind energy, the Danish company, which has installed more than a quarter of the world’s offshore wind capacity, scaled it’s investment to 57 billion USD by 2027. It is without shadow of a doubt that Orsted has a clear aim in becoming the leader of every type of renewable energy power source.
