Nordic SeaFarm appoints new CEO to drive growth in seaweed industry

Nordic SeaFarm has announced the appointment of Christer Olausson as its new Chief Executive Officer. He takes over from Simon Hilmersson, who will remain with the company in the role of Deputy CEO, focusing on expanding new business verticals and strategy.

Olausson brings significant experience in business development from various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, food, and agriculture. His appointment aligns with Nordic SeaFarm’s strategy to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding European seaweed market. The company aims to broaden its product portfolio, which includes offerings in food, bioplastics, and pet food.

Nordic SeaFarm, established in 2016, has positioned itself as a leader in seaweed commercialization. The company emphasizes sustainability and innovation in its research and development efforts. The use of seaweed is increasingly recognized for its potential in addressing various global sustainability challenges.

Thony Michaelsen, Chairman of the Board at Nordic SeaFarm, expressed confidence in Olausson’s leadership. He stated, “We are ready to put Nordic SeaFarm on the map and build a real seaweed powerhouse.” 

Olausson’s experience is expected to enhance the company’s growth strategy and operational scaling. His previous roles have focused on strategic growth and business expansion, making him a suitable fit for the challenges ahead.
