FatHopes Energy Sdn Bhd (FHE), a pioneer biofuel feedstock aggregator in Malaysia, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with AmSpec Group. AmSpec is a prominent service provider in the testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) industry. This collaboration aims to improve the efficiency and scalability of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production across the region.
The partnership plans to develop a comprehensive feedstock library and discovery initiative in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. The initiative will identify, assess, and document various feedstock sources for the SAF refinery that FHE is currently developing.
According to Argus Consulting, Asia Pacific’s SAF production capacity could reach 3.5 million metric tonnes per year, or 77,671 barrels per day, by the end of 2025. This collaboration represents a significant milestone in advancing SAF production in the region. By mapping regional feedstock variations, the agreement aims to optimize resource use while ensuring ethical and sustainable sourcing.
The agreement commences on June 1, 2025. It will evaluate key sustainability indicators to support SAF production and promote responsible energy practices and sustainable development.
FHE will lead the effort by sourcing, collecting, and coordinating feedstock samples across Asia. The company will also oversee logistics related to testing, data consolidation, and co-developing feedstock profiling formats.
AmSpec will provide analytical services for evaluating feedstocks in SAF production, offering its technical expertise on raw materials and finished products. Additionally, AmSpec will contribute to the establishment of an on-site SAF laboratory to ensure compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.
This collaboration aims to enhance the regional SAF ecosystem and support the growing demand for sustainable aviation fuels.
