The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced the allocation of over $14 million in grants for 42 projects across 27 counties in Wisconsin aimed at enhancing access to clean energy and expanding biofuel availability.

Among the recipients, JT Petroleum, has been awarded $5 million to promote the sales of renewable biofuels, particularly E15 gasoline. The initiative includes installing 19 ethanol storage tanks and 15 biodiesel tanks at locations in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky, with an anticipated increase in biofuel sales by over 6 million gallons annually.

Rosewood Dairy, known for producing Renard’s cheese in Algoma, will receive $500,000 to implement energy-efficient lighting, projected to reduce the company’s energy costs by approximately $18,000 annually, which amounts to a savings of around 60%.

GRO Alliance, a seed supplier in Grant County, has been granted $438,500 for the installation of a roof-mounted solar electric array, expected to save the company about $45,000 per year in energy expenses. This grant contributes to the broader goal of increasing access to clean energy and supporting the growth of biofuels in the region.
