Syngenta, a leader in agricultural biologicals, has partnered with AI firm TraitSeq to enhance the development of biostimulants. The collaboration aims to leverage TraitSeq’s advanced AI methods, combined with Syngenta’s expertise in crop biology, to identify specific plant biomarkers that indicate health and resilience.
Biostimulants are substances that improve nutrient usage, increase tolerance to environmental stress, and enhance crop quality. Their effectiveness can vary based on environmental conditions.
Using TraitSeq’s AI platform, the partnership will analyze complex biological data to uncover molecular interactions that impact nutrient utilization in crops. This initiative aligns with Syngenta’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and its recent Portfolio Sustainability Framework aimed at promoting environmentally friendly products.
Both companies believe that this partnership will expedite the creation of innovative biological solutions to support sustainable farming practices.
Dr. Joshua Colmer, CEO of TraitSeq, said, “This partnership highlights how TraitSeq’s versatile platform can transform agricultural input development by uncovering predictive biomarkers that directly link molecular insights to biostimulant performance. By equipping Syngenta’s innovation pipeline with these capabilities, we aim to optimise and accelerate the development of new biological solutions, which will support farmers in adopting more sustainable agricultural practices.”
