Finnish materials company Sulapac has supplied its Solid bio-based material for Yom Beauty’s new lip mask packaging, supporting the UK cosmetics brand’s launch of what it describes as the world’s first lip mask made entirely with food-grade ingredients.
The packaging, known as The Pebble, combines food-grade glass with bio-based components. The spatula and pearlescent lid are both made from Sulapac Solid, a fully bio-based material positioned as a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics.
“The spatula and the pearlescent lid of The Pebble are manufactured using Sulapac Solid, a fully bio-based material designed as a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics, supporting both environmental goals and luxury aesthetics,” said Katja Ahonen, international key account manager at Sulapac.
The material is made from bio-based polymers and mineral fillers, giving it a ceramic-like feel. Sulapac says it is PFAS-free and leaves no permanent microplastics behind. Components are manufactured in France by FaiveleyTech, a Sulapac partner specialising in high-value plastic injection moulding for the health care and beauty sectors.
Yom Beauty markets the product around the premise that what goes on the lips also goes in, positioning food-grade safety as central to its brand.
The Sulapac partnership reflects growing interest in sustainable lip product packaging across the beauty sector. The material’s combination of bio-based credentials and premium aesthetics positions it as an alternative for brands seeking to move away from conventional plastics without compromising on finish or consumer experience.
