Sasol Chemicals, the world’s largest manufacturer of surfactants, has launched two new brands of sustainable biosurfactants, CARINEX and LIVINEX. These products are made using Holiferm’s proprietary technology, which derives sophorolipids from natural palm-free oils and/or sugars. This makes them environmentally friendly without compromising performance.
CARINEX will be marketed to the personal care market, while LIVINEX will be offered to customers in the home care, technical, institutional, and industrial cleaning markets. Both products are fully biodegradable and well-tolerated by aquatic organisms. They can be used as detergents, dispersants, emulsifiers, foaming agents, or wetting agents in a variety of applications, such as shampoos, conditioners, detergents, degreasers, and more.
Eric Stouder, Senior Vice President of Sasol Chemicals, said, “As Sasol continues to find ways to offer our customers lower-carbon footprint products, we believe partnerships are the key to unlocking and accelerating sustainable innovation and transformation.”
Richard Lock, Managing Director of Holiferm, added, “We are seeing an increase in interest and uptake of sustainable solutions and are well-placed with our partners to meet this demand.”
The launch of CARINEX and LIVINEX is a significant step forward for the sustainable chemistry industry. It demonstrates that it is possible to produce high-performing biosurfactants that are also environmentally friendly. These products have the potential to reduce the carbon footprint of a wide range of products and industries.
