IGES to host 17th ISAP in 2025

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) will host the 17th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP 2025). The event is scheduled for July 29, 2025, at Pacifico Yokohama. It will be held as a hybrid event, with both in-person and online participation options. The Thematic Tracks will take place online from August to October 2025.

ISAP2025 gathers global experts to discuss sustainable development and climate action. The event aims to promote a just transition and harness synergies for a sustainable future. Participants will focus on addressing the “Triple Planetary Crisis”, which includes climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.

The world faces slow progress on key agreements like the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Ongoing conflicts and unpredictable policies complicate efforts. Despite these challenges, there is hope. Increasing global awareness and shared purpose are fostering integrated approaches to sustainability.

Stakeholder participation is vital for accelerating progress. Inclusive and equitable change depends on active involvement from diverse groups. ISAP2025 will emphasize balancing environmental sustainability with social equity. Discussions will focus on strengthening synergies to achieve a just transition, leaving no one behind.

The forum will highlight issues specific to Asia and the Pacific. Experts will share practical ideas and expertise to promote inclusive policymaking. The goal is to support a systemic, sustainable, and fair transition. Participants will explore ways to build resilience and ensure sustainability for future generations.
