Great Earth shifts entire product range to fiber-based packaging

Great Earth, a Swedish nutraceutical company, is shifting all its supplement products to fiber-based closures. This move follows a successful pilot launch and demonstrates leadership in sustainable packaging.

Patrik Falk, CEO of Great Earth, said, “We are moving beyond plastic caps. We are now transitioning our entire product range to fiber-based closures. We’re not just talking about the future of packaging—we are delivering it now.”

Last year, Great Earth was the first company to adopt fiber-based closures developed by Blue Ocean Closures. These caps are designed to increase recyclability and reduce carbon footprints. The initial products launched on their top seller, Magnesium, both online and in Swedish retail stores.

The pilot proved successful. Based on market response and production compatibility, the company decided to replace all plastic caps with paper caps.

Falk explained, “Our collaboration with Blue Ocean Closures was a fantastic opportunity. This transition is about driving sustainability forward and meeting the consumer of the future. The positive response from consumers and retailers shows us where the market is heading.”

Consumer surveys from the pilot showed that 90% found the paper cap more user-friendly, 100% saw it as more environmentally friendly, and 90% preferred it enough to buy again.

Great Earth is part of a pioneering community developing fiber-based closures. Other global brands, such as L’Oréal and The Absolut Group, are also involved.

Eric Näf from The Absolut Group praised Great Earth’s decision, “Their move to fiber-based caps is powerful and commendable. As part of the Pioneering Community, we applaud their commitment to innovation and market progress.”

Blue Ocean Closures CEO Lars Sandberg noted, “Consumers are demanding more sustainable packaging. Companies like Great Earth that lead this shift will be the long-term winners.”

As brands seek sustainable solutions, Blue Ocean Closures is helping drive progress in packaging toward a greener future.
