- Municipal Solid Waste Management in Developing Countries. Taught by Dr. Christian Zurbrügg & Msc. Eng. Imanol Zabaleta from Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology. This MOOC teaches the elements of a solid waste management system, the main solid waste management challenges in low- and middle-income countries, and tips on how to find solutions, as well as plastic waste. The course also features hands-on modules to help you tackle practical problems.
- Introduction to Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage (HWTS). Offered by École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. This course is targeted to those who wish to learn about the most important water treatment methods at household level and successful implementation strategies. It is one of four courses of a larger MOOC series titled “Sanitation, Water and Solid Waste for Development”
- Water Scarce Cities: Thriving in a Finite World. Offered by the World Bank Group x Open Learning Campus. Water scarcity is a time bomb. Just until 2018, Cape Town was just moments away from Day Zero due to severe water shortages. Population growth, economic expansion, and climate change are exacerbating already water scarce cities. In this course you’ll learn to improve water management approaches to establish a global network of practitioners and experts, and to facilitate technical assistance to build resilience against climate change. - Water and Wastewater Treatment Engineering – Biochemical Technology. Taught by Zuo Jiane, Professor and Vice-President, School of Environment at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. This course in edX teaches current biochemical technology in water and wastewater treatment engineering, the basic principles and characteristics of biochemical technology, as well as technological advancements in water and wastewater treatment technology.
