Corteva Agriscience and Swedish crop nutrition company Arevo have announced a partnership to bring Arevo’s arginine-based seed treatment, Arginex Soy, into Corteva’s European soybean portfolio.
Arginex Soy is applied directly to soybean seeds before planting. It works by stimulating root hair growth, which supports the formation of nodules where nitrogen-fixing bacteria establish. This strengthens the plant’s natural ability to fix nitrogen, improving root development and nutrient uptake from early in the growing season. Arginine is an organic nitrogen source that plants absorb preferentially and, when combined with phosphate, remains available in the root zone over time.
The partnership follows a multi-stage technical evaluation covering agronomic performance, formulation stability and compatibility with Corteva’s existing seed treatment systems. The evaluation confirmed the product could be integrated without disrupting established commercial processes.
“Rigorous evaluation has confirmed that Arginex Soy delivers the consistency and formulation stability required for Corteva’s seed applied technologies,” said Leonardo Costa, EMEA Seed Applied Technologies Leader at Corteva Agriscience. He described it as a practical solution for supporting early crop establishment and improving nutrient use efficiency.
Niklas Åström, CEO of Arevo, said the agreement validates the technology’s ability to integrate into established seed platforms. “Being selected following this level of technical evaluation is an important milestone for Arevo,” he said.
Arginex Soy is already available to farmers in Europe. The Corteva partnership extends its reach through established commercial distribution channels, reducing barriers to adoption for growers.
Arevo’s broader mission is to reduce dependence on synthetic fertilisers and support sustainable cultivation with zero nitrogen waste.
