The government of the United States is looking to increase the supply of biofuels, and is therefore asking for information and feedback from the technology and energy industries on the best way to achieve it. Of course, this also includes feedback from the shipping industry.
This past December, a request was issued by the Department of Energy to biofuel producers and technology developers to share information about their willingness and preparation to scale up the production of renewable diesel, renewable marine fuels and bio-jet fuel.
In a statement released on its website, the Department of Energy stated that “This information is necessary for DOE’s Bioenergy Technologies Office to chart the potential growth of domestic renewable fuels production by 2030 and to understand the barriers in scaling renewable fuel production pathways”.
“The RFI also seeks information on how DOE can best assist biofuels production stakeholders in their research and development and scaling-up of their technologies”.
The Department of Energy is receiving submissions on this topic by the end of the current month (January 2021).
