Samyang Innochem, a chemical subsidiary of Samyang Group, has acquired international eco-friendly certification for its white bio material, Isosorbide, as part of its global market expansion strategy.
Isosorbide, certified by Samyang Innochem, is an eco-friendly material derived from 100% biomass. It is chemically processed from starch extracted from plant resources such as corn. Isosorbide serves as a replacement for conventional petrochemical materials and is used in the production of plastics, coatings, and more. It offers several advantages, including reduced carbon emissions, transparency, durability, heat and chemical resistance, and adhesiveness. This makes it suitable for various applications, including electronic products, automotive interior and exterior materials, food containers, and building materials.
Ho-Sung Kang, CEO of Samyang Innochem, expressed his enthusiasm about the ISCC Plus certification, stating that it paves the way for the global market entry of Isosorbide. He emphasized the company’s commitment to accelerating the global launch of Isosorbide and expanding its utilization in various products, thereby furthering their eco-friendly specialty material business.
Samyang Group is actively engaged in developing new products based on the unique characteristics and excellence of Isosorbide. They have already commenced mass production of an eco-friendly adhesive for electric vehicles and have effectively utilized Isosorbide in the development of high-transmittance polycarbonate for daytime running lights, which enhances light transmittance and reduces yellowing. Additionally, they are currently working on the development of thermal management materials for electric vehicle batteries, gradually expanding the range of applications for Isosorbide.
