Ponda has raised $2.4 million in seed funding to expand BioPuff, a plant-based, regenerative insulation. The company also plans to grow its wetland farming network across Europe.
Ponda has already received grants from Innovate UK, the H&M Foundation, and Terra Carta. Now, its total funding is $6.5 million. Each investment confirms the belief that sustainable materials can heal the planet.
Over the next 18 months, Ponda aims to increase production of BioPuff from pilot to full-scale manufacturing. It also plans to expand its wetland network across Europe. The company wants to launch BioPuff collections for Autumn/Winter 2026.
CEO Julian Ellis-Brown explained that each jacket filled with BioPuff helps reduce emissions. It also funds peatland restoration.
Peatlands release around two gigatonnes of greenhouse gases each year. They are also vulnerable to flooding. Ponda works with landowners to rewet degraded peatlands. They plant Typha to help these landscapes store carbon. These efforts improve flood resilience and support biodiversity. They also give farmers a new crop to grow.
Farmer Will Barnard has seen the benefits firsthand. After recent floods, he says wetlands protect farmland and livelihoods. Working with Ponda shows that these landscapes can stay productive under climate pressure. They also create new economic opportunities.
The Bristol facility has fibre processing and prototyping capabilities. This allows Ponda to produce BioPuff at an industrial scale. The company partners with brands like Berghaus, Stella McCartney, Parley, and Sheep Inc. They test BioPuff in real-world conditions. While initially aimed at fashion, BioPuff has many uses, such as upholstery, toys, and homeware.
Ponda’s mission is shared by investors, partners, and growers; all wanting to create materials that restore nature. Together, they aim to scale sustainable solutions. Ponda proves that collaboration can make a real difference.
