Kraton Corporation, a leading global sustainable producer of specialty polymers and high-value biobased products derived from pine wood pulping by-products, has achieved a major sustainability milestone with ISCC PLUS certification for its Belpre, Ohio facility. This certification allows them to manufacture renewable Styrenic Block Copolymers (SBC) under the CirKular+™ ReNew Series using a mass balance approach.
The CirKular+ ReNew Series offers customers access to polymers with up to 100% certified renewable content and significantly lower carbon footprint compared to traditional options. This achievement complements their existing ISCC PLUS certified facility in France and strengthens their commitment to the circular economy.
“The certification of the Belpre site is an exciting milestone that further reinforces Kraton’s commitment to the circular economy and offers customers sustainable, innovative solutions,” shares Pedro Lopes, Kraton Global VP of Strategic Marketing & Product Management. “Bringing local ISCC PLUS supply options to our customers will support their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and increase the use of renewable materials across multiple end uses.”
ISCC PLUS certification is a prestigious recognition for sustainable practices. It allows Kraton to track renewable raw materials through their production chain, ensuring transparency and enabling customers to make informed choices about sustainable materials. This certification positions Kraton at the forefront of sustainable polymer innovation and supports the industry’s transition to renewable materials and a reduced carbon footprint.
