Carnegie, a provider of sustainable textiles, has announced the release of Siltech Plus, part of the An Ode to Textiles collection. This fabric is notable for being the first high-performance coated upholstery available in a biobased version.
Siltech Plus is made with biobased polyurethane coated upholstery, incorporating corn starch into its design. The product aims to combine sustainability with strong performance characteristics, emphasizing extreme durability, stain resistance, and cleanability.
The upholstery also features properties such as hydrolysis resistance and bleach cleanability. It comes with a 10-year warranty, reflecting confidence in its durability and performance.
The collection includes fabrics made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester. All products in the An Ode to Textiles collection are free from PVC, PFAS, and harmful chemicals. Comprehensive Health Product Declarations (HPDs) are available for these products.
Carnegie emphasizes that Siltech Plus significantly reduces the carbon footprint compared to traditional vinyl (PVC) upholstery. The launch aligns with the company’s commitment to responsible innovation and sustainable practices within the textile industry.
