Biotalys, an agtech company specializing in protein-based biocontrol solutions, has announced a key leadership change. The company plans to appoint Toni Bucci as an independent director on its Board of Directors.
Bucci’s appointment will take effect immediately upon her election at the upcoming shareholders’ meeting scheduled for April 22, 2025. She will replace Markus Heldt, who is retiring from the Board.
Simon Moroney, Chairman of the Board at Biotalys, expressed enthusiasm about Bucci’s addition. “Her extensive experience in agriculture and strategic leadership will greatly support our goals,” he said.
He also acknowledged Markus Heldt’s contributions during his tenure. “Markus’s dedication and guidance have been invaluable, and we wish him all the best in the future,” Moroney added.
Kevin Helash, CEO of Biotalys, highlighted Bucci’s qualifications. “Toni is a highly respected leader, and we are thrilled to welcome her,” he stated. Her experience in biotechnology aligns closely with Biotalys’ mission.
Helash noted that Bucci’s insights into AgTech’s challenges will drive the company’s growth. “We look forward to collaborating with her to enhance our impact in sustainable agriculture,” he said.
Dr. Toni Bucci brings over 30 years of experience in agricultural and biotechnology sectors. She has successfully guided companies through strategic growth and commercialization.
Before focusing on start-ups, Bucci spent 23 years at BASF, where she oversaw the research and development of new fungicides and insecticides. She currently serves on the boards of several emerging biotech firms, emphasizing sustainable agricultural solutions.

Dr. Bucci holds a PhD in Entomology from North Carolina State University. She also earned a Master’s degree in Entomology from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Augusta State University.
