Angel Yeast has officially begun operations at its new yeast protein production line located in Baiyang Biotechnology Park, Yichang, Hubei. The facility boasts an annual capacity of 11,000 tons of high-purity yeast protein, with a protein content exceeding 80%. This marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to meet rising worldwide demand for sustainable protein sources. It also enhances Angel Yeast’s manufacturing footprint and solidifies its position in the alt protein and sustainable nutrition markets.
As the food industry increasingly emphasizes protein innovation, companies are integrating multi-functional solutions into their products. Industry publication Foodaily noted that, “Beyond traditional animal and plant proteins, novel sources such as yeast protein are emerging rapidly, injecting new vitality into the market.” Angel Yeast’s expansion aligns with this rising trend, emphasizing sustainable and efficient protein production.
In 2025, Angel Yeast’s yeast protein product, AngeoPro, earned awards for its technological innovation. AngeoPro is rich in complete amino acids and dietary fiber, offering a clean taste profile free from off-notes. Its versatility allows it to be consumed directly or blended with other proteins like whey and soy.
Produced through advanced bio-fermentation technology, the new line utilizes automated, end-to-end process control. The entire production occurs within controlled fermentation tanks, unaffected by climate or season. With room for expansion, the facility is designed for stable, resource-efficient, and sustainable production.
Li Ku, General Manager of Angel Yeast’s Protein Nutrition and Flavoring Technology Center, emphasized the growing market potential for yeast protein driven by health and sustainability trends. He stated that the company will continue expanding production to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions worldwide, fostering a more sustainable food future.
