Valmet has received an order from Saica Group in Spain. It is to supply a biomass boiler and flue gas cleaning system. The project is for Saica’s plant in El Burgo de Ebro, Zaragoza. The order is part of Valmet’s second quarter 2025 orders. The order’s value will not be disclosed. The boiler will be delivered at the end of 2026.
Valmet will supply a BFB boiler using bubbling fluidized bed technology. It will produce over 700,000 tonnes of steam each year. The boiler will use biomass as fuel. This will reduce fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions. The project supports Saica’s sustainability and circular economy goals.
Juan Antonio Meler, Saica’s Industrial Projects Director, said, “This project is part of Saica’s decarbonization plan.” It received a PERTE euro grant from the Spanish Ministry of Industry. Meler added, “We trust Valmet for their proven biomass boiler technology.” He also praised the good cooperation in previous projects. He expects success from this new partnership.

Valmet will deliver the BFB boiler, auxiliary equipment, and the boiler building. This includes erection, commissioning, and start-up. Valmet will also supply a flue gas cleaning system with a bag house filter.
