Anaergia Inc. has entered into a binding agreement with Techbau, an Italian firm known for its large-scale engineering and construction projects, to develop five new biomethane production plants in Italy.
Anaergia’s subsidiary, Anaergia S.r.l., will supply advanced technology for the biomethane production process, while Techbau will serve as the general contractor for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the facilities.
The new plants will utilize Anaergia’s anaerobic digestion technologies to convert agricultural and food processing waste into renewable biomethane, contributing to Italy’s energy sustainability and decarbonization objectives. The facilities will be strategically located in Southern Italy and are projected to be operational and connected to the national gas pipeline grid by the end of 2025.
The total investment for these projects is estimated to be around €100 million, with Anaergia expected to record approximately C$25 million in revenues from the initiative.
The partnership is seen as an extension of Techbau’s commitment to sustainability, as articulated by its CEO, Andrea Marchiori. “We are pleased to partner with Anaergia to build these five facilities that will impact Italy’s future positively in terms of both environmental and energy supplies,” he stated.
Anaergia’s CEO, Assaf Onn, noted the company’s dedication to delivering sustainable technologies in the region, emphasizing the significance of this agreement in supporting Italy’s renewable energy sector and fostering economic and environmental progress.
