Great Earth has launched a new range of nutritional supplements featuring innovative fibre-based caps, developed in collaboration with Blue Ocean Closures. This initiative is designed to replace conventional plastic caps and respond to an increasing consumer preference for sustainable packaging solutions.

The new closure is recyclable like paper, and feedback has indicated that both customers and retailers are supportive of this change.

According to Blue Ocean Closures, effective packaging plays a vital role in conveying product information while also reflecting a commitment to environmental responsibility.

Amelia Sjöberg from Swedish pharmacy chain Apotek Hjärtat emphasized the importance of minimizing plastic use: “It is crucial for industry stakeholders to take ownership of sustainable practices. The fibre-based closure aligns with our goal of promoting recyclable and renewable packaging solutions.”

The fibre screw cap was launched commercially in April and is designed for Great Earth’s vitamin supplement bottles made from recycled PET with a 38mm diameter. Blue Ocean Closures reported that the use of a predominantly fibre cap leads to significant reductions in carbon emissions associated with packaging.
