Kurita America, a subsidiary of the Kurita Group, a global provider of industrial water treatment solutions, has formed a partnership with Solugen, a bio-based chemical manufacturer, to develop a range of new carbon-negative water treatment products. These innovative solutions will introduce bio-based alternatives to traditional petroleum-derived additives used in water treatment.
The partnership aims to create high-performing substitutes for phosphorus and other petroleum-based additives currently on the market. This collaboration will enhance Kurita’s existing sustainability-focused business, which prioritizes products and technologies that conserve water, reduce CO2 emissions, and minimize industrial waste while improving plant productivity for customers.
Kurita’s CSV business segment, one of the company’s fastest-growing areas, focuses on developing products, technologies, and business models that promote sustainability. One recent product line is the Tower NG series of cooling products, which replaces traditional water treatment chemicals with a combination of advanced polymer technology and Solugen’s proprietary biodegradable corrosion inhibitor. This innovative solution eliminates the reliance on traditional organo-phosphonates while providing equivalent or better results for deposit and corrosion control.
Solugen’s CEO, Gaurab Chakrabarti, stated that the partnership with Kurita aligns with their shared vision of driving sustainability through innovative solutions. The companies are committed to providing the water treatment industry with decarbonized solutions that do not compromise on performance.
