Commentary: Maiden voyage for first autonomous electric ship

Yara Birkeland, the world’s first fully electric container ship, made its maiden voyage across the Oslo Fjord on Friday. It was developed by Kongsberg Group and Yara, built by VARD, and financed by Evona. It will begin commercial operations in 2022.
