BMH Technology, a leading provider of biomass handling solutions, has recently entered into a contract with Kokkolan Energia in Finland. The agreement entails the delivery and installation of a state-of-the-art biomass fuel handling system, which will significantly enhance the power plant’s capabilities.
The new biomass fuel handling system from BMH Technology is set to double the power plant’s fuel receiving capacity, while also increasing the fuel storage capacity by a remarkable fourfold. This upgrade will enable Kokkolan Energia to reduce its reliance on peat as a fuel source and instead prioritize renewable energy sources.
The existing system at Kokkolan Energia will be replaced by BMH Technology’s advanced biomass fuel handling system, becoming the primary means of supplying fuel to the power plant’s boiler. Tommi Korpi, the acting CEO of Kokkolan Energia, emphasized that this investment in renewable energy infrastructure will allow the company to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly energy solutions. Korpi states, “This is a significant investment on our road towards carbon-neutral energy production.”
Ari Nyrökorpi, Senior Vice President of BMH Technology, added that the new biomass fuel handling system will contribute to a substantial reduction in the use of fossil fuels. He expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration between BMH Technology and Kokkolan Energia, having previously successfully implemented similar projects that reduced the reliance on peat and gas.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with the biomass fuel handling system delivered, installed, and operational. This investment marks another step forward for both BMH Technology and Kokkolan Energia on their joint journey towards sustainable energy production.
