B Boheme Launches 100% Sustainable Shoes

World Bio Market Insights

UK-based vegan shoe brand B_Boheme has made a comeback, launching a new collection after two years. Using innovative and sustainable techniques, the brand is producing shoes according to how many orders they get, ensuring a more sustainable supply chain and avoiding waste of fast-fashion.

The new collection brings the AIMEE Flat and the SCOUT Sneaker, with production focusing mainly in sustainable materials and processes, whilst highlighting transparency in this regard, an issue many fashion companies struggle with.

The shoes are 100% vegan. Just to get a glimpse of how sustainable these shoes are, here are some of the materials they’re made with: BioVeg Vegan Upper, Cereal-based bio-polyoils (min 45%) combined with tree pulp viscose and recycled polyester textile obtained from recycled bottles; BioEco lining, Corn-based polymer with recycled polyester from textile waste, 100% breathable; Natural latex Insole, BB Bespoke made superior comfort with added arch cushioning; Recycled Thunit Sole, Part-recycled synthetic rubber; Recycled Sequin, 20% recycled PET.

Alicia Lai, Founder of B_Boheme and qualified podiatrist, said: “The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries on the planet. Part of that is the unsustainable materials used, even in other vegan shoes, but there is also a huge amount of waste due to products not being sold. By manufacturing the shoes only when they’re ordered we can avoid that. It does mean that we’ve turned our back on fast fashion, our customers have to be more patient, but we know that most of them are as passionate about the environment as we are,” she added.

“The design of our shoes starts with the consideration of their end life.  We want to design out waste and pollution.  We source 100% vegan and sustainable materials which includes natural, recycled and biofibre sourced from corn and recycled polyester. We produce in Portugal close to home and our materials and components are sourced within the EU. Everything we do is to aim to reduce our environmental footprint,” says the company.
