Fonterra, a global dairy co-operative, and Superbrewed Food, a natural ingredient manufacturer, have partnered to develop innovative protein solutions that meet the growing demand for sustainable and functional food products.

The partnership combines Fonterra’s expertise in dairy processing, ingredients, and applications with Superbrewed’s biomass protein platform. The collaboration aims to create new nutrient-rich, functional biomass proteins that complement dairy ingredients and cater to consumer demands worldwide.

Superbrewed’s patented biomass protein, Postbiotic Cultured Protein, has recently received FDA approval for the US market. This non-GMO, allergen-free protein has been shown to have excellent nutritional properties and is already being used in various food applications.

The partnership also involves adapting Superbrewed’s fermentation platform to ferment other inputs, including Fonterra’s lactose permeate. This multi-year joint effort aims to develop new biomass protein solutions by converting lactose into high-quality, sustainable protein.

The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both companies to delivering sustainably sourced, functional proteins that meet customer and consumer needs worldwide. By working together, Fonterra and Superbrewed Food are poised to make a significant impact on the food industry’s sustainability and innovation landscape.
