Umami United raises $9M for biobased alt egg

UMAMI UNITED JAPAN has been selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Innovation Promotion Fund Project. The project will focus on establishing and expanding the global presence of ‘Plant-Based Eggs’ utilizing Japanese technology. The total amount awarded is approximately $9M USD.

UMAMI UNITED JAPAN is a food tech company based in Japan that specializes in developing plant-based alternatives to animal products. The company’s mission is to create delicious and nutritious plant-based foods that cater to the evolving needs and preferences of consumers worldwide.

With this funding, UMAMI UNITED JAPAN aims to accelerate the development of its plant-based egg products, which are made using Japanese technology. The company’s plant-based eggs are designed to mimic the texture, taste, and nutritional value of traditional chicken eggs while being entirely vegan and free from common allergens such as soy and gluten.

The project’s focus on expanding the global presence of plant-based eggs aligns with UMAMI UNITED JAPAN’s broader strategy to become a global food tech company representing Japan.
