Eco-Conscious Edition from Philips Domestic Appliances recently introduced the world’s first breakfast set, made with 100% bio-based plastics from used cooking oil. The used plant oil is safely collected and transported by the company to a factory that specialises in processing waste products into bio-based plastic granules. These granules are then used by Philips Domestic Appliances to manufacture the latest Eco-Conscious Edition range. This manufacturing process is aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions, water pollution, and the overall use of natural resources – all of which helps to protect the environment. The result developed is a range of everyday kitchen appliances made from sustainable materials with recyclable parts.
Apart from boasting its sleek and modern minimalist design, which looks and feels perfect for a new home or kitchen upgrade, every product in this edition comes with clever, energy-saving features, allowing consumers to do their bit in making sustainable efforts. The company showcased its 5000 Series Eco-Conscious kettles, with a family-sized capacity of 1.7 litres that has an easy-to-read water level indicator to know exactly how much water is needed to fill the cup. Additionally, this powerful 2200W cordless kettle sits on a 360-degree pirouette base for easy lifting and a removable anti-limescale filter that ensures the water poured into the cup is clean. It also has a powerful concealer made from a stainless steel heating element that enables fast boiling and easy cleaning. For extra energy-saving points, the company has incorporated an automatic switch-off function that turns off the kettle when the water is ready or when the kettle is lifted from the base.
The next in the series is a 5000 Series Eco-Conscious toaster that follows a clever self-centering mechanism that perfectly positions each slice for even toasting on both sides. With the defrost and reheat modes, one can easily defrost and toast frozen bread simultaneously or warm-up previously toasted bread in seconds. Its integrated bun rack is perfect for warming buns, rolls, and pastries too. There is also a handy crumb tray for easy cleaning and a removable dust cover in a stylish wood pattern to keep the appliance kitchen debris-free when not in use. Lastly, the 5000 Series Eco-Conscious coffee maker features an ‘aroma twister’ – a smart nozzle inside the jug that circulates coffee evenly, for an optimal, consistent aroma, from first to the last cup. The drip-stop feature allows pouring a cup before the brewing cycle is finished, while the energy-saving fast-brew time facilitates making up to 10 cups in just 10 minutes.
Eco-Conscious edition aims to put an end to plastic usage by introducing this breakfast set made from 100% bio-based material. The company uses oil as a resource to create bio-based plastics. With this breakthrough innovation, the company aims to avoid plastics made from fossil fuels and instead rely on what they already have. By using the bio-based plastic in the Eco-Conscious Breakfast Set, Philips Domestic Appliance is contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions nearly by 21%.
