Leading biobased ingredients company Corbion is joining forces with Truterra, LLC (a unit of Land O’Lakes) and their local partner Central Valley Ag (CVA). The collaboration is meant to leverage data insights to improve regenerative agriculture practices, including no-till farming, cover crops and integrated grazing.
Other big names such as Danone and General Mills are embracing the movement of regenerative agriculture and helping it grow. These sustainable practices benefit the environment and customers, and are additionally helping growers to be more profitable in the future by reducing costs and improving operational efficiencies.
Some of the recommended regenerative agriculture practices for farmers include reduced or no-till farming practices, cover cropping, composting, increasing crop diversity and organic annual cropping. The implementation of Phycoterra soil microbe food, animal integration, managed grazing, silvopasture, and agroforestry are also encouraged.
Thanks to Corbion’s work, farmers will be able to use Truterra’s Insights Engine to analyse real-time, field-level sustainability data, identify potential improvements, and develop environmental impact models for their land. Truterra’s digital platform allows for farmers to constantly improve and enhance sustainability, increase profitability, and manage their supply chain more efficiently. The Insights Engine will also be used for environmental reporting.
Corbion is also joining other food company giants, such as Campbell’s and Nestle, in partnering with Truterra, which boasts nearly 2 million acres that are leveraging the firm’s software and data products and services.
Olivier Rigaud, Corbion CEO, said “We are very proud to partner with Truterra and CVA to promote sustainable agriculture practices in our supply chain. Our collaboration is founded on a shared understanding that the health of our planet, our people and our businesses are absolutely intertwined.”
“As private sector demand for on-farm stewardship continues to grow, we’re proud to partner with world-class companies like Corbion to bring new resources and new opportunities directly to farmers and their local ag retailers,” said Jason Weller, Vice President, Truterra.
