Just days ahead of COP26, leaked files show how Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and OPEC have pressed to water down a key UN IPCC scientific report. A Saudi Arabian advisor to the oil ministry said: “phrases like ‘the need for urgent and accelerated mitigation actions at all scales…’ should be eliminated from the report”.
