The Biobased Industry in Europe is a fast-paced innovation sector. Many start-ups and spin-off companies seek to access the market backed by competitive and innovative ideas. The reality, however, is that they often have a hard time surviving and perish within a few years from their creation.
BioeconomyVentures is an EU funded project that aims to establish a solid sectoral-wide network, matchmaking platform and run three 5 month acceleration programmers to ignite the cooperation among start-ups, spin-offs and the investors community. The objective is to lay the groundwork for the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the biobased industry sector adopting a holistic approach. Furthermore, the programme is also organising 46 pitching and networking events. The selected innovators in the acceleration programme will benefit of unique opportunity to boost their knowledge and expertise portfolio, having access to:
- Hybrid business and investment readiness support,
- Networking opportunities and pitching events,
- Matchmaking with investors and corporates,
- The opportunity to address innovation challenges set by leading corporations,
- Visibility and exposure through the BV Ambassador network,
- BioeconomyVentures platform for matchmaking
- Exposition at events
The project has structured its acceleration programs around 3 main bioeconomy pillars and their sub sectors:
- OC #1 – Future of Food (program ongoing)
- OC #2 – Future of chemicals (currently in progress)
- OC #3 – Future of Industrial Circularity (coming up)
To facilitate these acceleration programs, BioeconomyVentures will launch two different types of Open Calls, namely Call for Challenges and Call for Innovators.
- Call for Corporate Challenges the goal of attracting corporates and give them the opportunity to propose challenges that can be solved via a bioeconomy approach. This call aims to ensure a direct match between corporates and solution providers (bioeconomy start-ups and spin-offs). Challenges will be defined in one-to-one BioeconomyVentures corporate meetings and targets to address corporate´s and industry’s needs. We aim to establish at least 20 corporate challenges.
- Open Call for Innovators has the goal to attract 70 innovators to present their solution/product/service concepts aiming to participate in the BioeconomyVentures programme and benefit from its services and connection with corporates and investors. We will host a pitching day where the corporations will have the opportunity to meet the top solution providers and explore potential synergies.
Currently, in the preparation for the Future of chemicals program, BioeconomyVentures is looking for corporations to join and establish challenges. The deadline for establishing challenges is the end of October 2022.
