Digital flexible packaging company ePac has announced its launch in Australia, with the group’s first manufacturing facility set to open in Melbourne in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The firm, which digitally prints packaging solutions for small-scale businesses, is to open its first production facility eight kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD at the Newlands Road food manufacturing hub. The new site will primarily focus on serving startups in the snack, coffee, organic foods and pet food spheres, with the packaging itself being fully recyclable and containing a minimum of 30% consumer-recycled content.
“We’re very excited to be expanding ePac’s growing international footprint into Australia,” said ePac Flexible Packaging CEO Jack Knott in a statement on the opening. “We are focused on bringing the same great ePac experience to our customers, helping small and medium sized businesses grow and achieve big brand presence.”
At the new location, ePac will also be offering ePac Connect – a service that prints QR codes onto packaging to help brands with supply chain transparency and accountability, as well as customer engagement.
The group was set up in 2016 and has based its printing technology on the Indigo 20000 platform to allow brands to ‘take advantage of the growing trends in connected packaging.’ The team focuses on small and medium-scale businesses to offer economically viable and sustainable packaging options to compete with large-scale brands.

The company currently has locations in the UK, US, Canada and Indonesia, with 16 plants currently fully operational. The firm has plans to expand into new markets, with the Melbourne site joining five more under construction.
