DMC Biotechnologies launches sustainable D-chiro-inositol for nutraceuticals

DMC Biotechnologies, a leading U.S.-based biomanufacturer, has announced the commercial launch of D-chiro-inositol, a new ingredient now available to health-focused nutraceutical brands in the United States. This addition enhances DMC’s portfolio of sustainable health actives produced through fermentation.

Produced via a proprietary, solvent-free fermentation process, D-chiro-inositol offers higher purity and greater sustainability compared to traditional methods. Rusty Pittman, VP of Business Development at DMC, stated, “We’re proud to introduce fermented D-chiro-inositol as a next-generation ingredient for brands committed to clean and sustainable products. Consumers care about how products are made, and fermentation is emerging as a preferred alternative to chemical processes.”

D-chiro-inositol is a naturally occurring isomer of inositol widely used in women’s health supplements to support menstrual, ovarian, and hormonal health, as well as maintaining healthy insulin levels. Recent clinical studies also suggest its benefits in men’s health, with one study showing a 23% increase in serum testosterone levels.

Jim Flatt, DMC’s CEO, highlighted that this launch builds on the momentum of their recent myo-inositol introduction. He emphasized that DMC aims to develop and bring to market important, sustainable nutritional ingredients that prioritize quality, transparency, and environmental responsibility.

Supporting DMC’s mission to decarbonize supply chains, the new ingredient aligns with broader efforts to promote health and wellness through cleaner, more sustainable solutions.

Clinically, myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol are more effective when formulated together, supporting hormonal and reproductive health. With both now available from DMC, nutraceutical brands can offer comprehensive, eco-friendly supplement options.

D-chiro-inositol is currently available for commercial use in the U.S. and select international markets.
