Paris-based Technip Energies has announced the successful acquisition of Ecovyst Inc.’s Advanced Materials & Catalysts (AM&C) business. This strategic move broadens Technip’s capabilities in specialty catalysts and advanced materials, supporting its growth strategy in established markets.
The acquisition aims to strengthen Technip’s Technology, Products & Services (TPS) segment by increasing recurring revenues and expanding opportunities in sustainable fuels, circular chemistry, and carbon capture. These areas are vital for advancing the energy transition and delivering long-term value.
Post-acquisition, the AM&C business will continue to operate under its current leadership, supported by dedicated R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams. The facility network includes three locations across the US and Europe, employing 330 staff members. The portfolio features Advanced Silicas, a leading supplier of specialty silica-based materials and catalysts, and Zeolyst International, a joint venture with Shell Catalysts & Technologies focused on zeolite-based solutions for hydrocracking, sustainable fuels, and recycling.
With over 40 years of expertise, AM&C is expected to generate immediate earnings and cash flow, reinforcing Technip’s financial strength. The integration will unlock new growth opportunities and enhance the company’s market offerings.
Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies, highlighted the significance of the deal, saying it creates an integrated platform driving efficiency and emissions performance. Kurt Bitting, CEO of Ecovyst, expressed confidence that Technip’s scale and expertise will accelerate product development. Paul Whittleston, President of AM&C, shared enthusiasm for building the next chapter of growth with the new ownership.
This acquisition marks a key milestone for Technip Energies as it advances its position in sustainable energy solutions.
