Revyve secures €24 M to scale yeast proteins for sustainable food production

Dutch food-tech scale-up Revyve has raised nearly €24 million in Series B funding. This brings its total capital raised to over €40 million. The new investment will support expansion and the scaling of its yeast-based ingredients. These ingredients are designed to replace eggs and additives in various food categories.

Revyve produces highly functional yeast proteins that mimic eggs in bakery, sauces, plant-based meats, and dairy. Unlike many substitutes, Revyve’s ingredients are natural, sustainable, and cost-competitive. They help address industry challenges like rising egg prices, consumer demand for clean-label foods, and the need for sustainability. These ingredients provide an affordable, stable, and natural alternative for food manufacturers.

Cedric Verstraeten, CEO of Revyve, explained, “Our yeast proteins offer a clean-label, scalable, and circular solution for egg replacement or reduction. They meet the growing demand for affordable, sustainable ingredients that maintain functionality.” He added that the funding would enable modular scaling and entry into more food categories worldwide.

In 2024, Revyve commissioned a new production facility in Dinteloord, the Netherlands. The plant is already operating at capacity for several customers. The new investment will increase output to over 1,600 tons annually, ensuring a reliable supply for global markets.

Verstraeten emphasized regional support from Wageningen and Brabant, which helped Revyve achieve rapid industrial scale. “With a talented team and strong investor backing, we are well-positioned for global growth,” he said.

The Series B round demonstrates strong confidence in Revyve’s technology and market potential. Hanna Zwietering of ABN AMRO SIF noted that their ingredients address a key need. They offer scalable, low-impact solutions to support the food transition.

Lisette Kersting-van der Boog from Invest-NL highlighted Revyve’s role in accelerating the protein shift. Their ingredients reduce pressure on land, water, and animals, supporting sustainability goals.

BOM’s Ingrid Nieweg said Revyve’s plans align with Brabant’s vision to become ‘the Scale-Up Plant of Europe’. Their innovative, circular approach supports regional growth and global impact.

Lallemand Bio-Ingredients and Grey Silo Ventures bring additional yeast and agri-food expertise. Their backing enhances Revyve’s potential to lead in sustainable food ingredients.

Overall, the funding confirms confidence in Revyve’s technology. It aims to foster a more sustainable, circular food industry with innovative, bio-based solutions.
