Colorado’s Compostable Product Labeling Act, set to take effect on July 1, 2024, requires certain products labeled as compostable to be certified and clearly marked. Eco-Products has introduced a new line of compostable products, Veridian, which meets these requirements.
The Veridian line features over 50 items, including clamshells, cups, lids, cutlery, bowls, and containers. These products display the word “Compostable” and the BPI Certification Mark, indicating that they are compostable and meet the standards set by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI). Additionally, they feature green or brown identification markers to distinguish them from non-compostable packaging.
The new law aims to address the issue of contamination in waste streams by ensuring that only certified compostable products are labeled as such. This will help prevent non-compostable items from being tossed into compost bins, reducing the growth of composting infrastructure and the resulting environmental impact.
Eco-Products’ Veridian line has been tested and certified by BPI, a leading authority on compostable products in North America. With this new line, businesses can confidently meet Colorado’s labeling requirements while also contributing to a more sustainable future.
