Godavari Biorefineries Limited (GBL) has launched a new specialty biochemical plant in Maharashtra, India. The plant will produce biobased chemicals for various industries, including coatings, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food and fragrances.
GBL aims to support the global goal of net-zero emissions by developing sustainable agricultural value chains and producing biobased chemicals using green chemistry. The company works closely with customers to develop new biobased chemical building blocks and scale up production.
The plant is expected to produce biochemicals like biobutanol, biobased ethers, and esters. GBL has a strategy to expand its capacity in the coming years and develop new biobased chemicals.
The launch of the plant was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Padma Vibhushan Prof. M. M. Sharma, a renowned expert in chemical engineering. He emphasized the importance of R&D in the chemical industry and praised GBL’s efforts in establishing a plant that represents the future of specialty chemicals manufacturing.
