Wellbred Trading SA has acquired La Nivernaise de Raffinage SAS, a refinery in Prémery, France, that specializes in converting used cooking oil into energy. This strategic move marks an important step in Wellbred’s expansion into the French domestic market for renewable energy.

The acquisition will allow Wellbred to engage further with the renewable energy sector and reinforce its commitment to growth in this area. The refinery, located in the heart of France, converts used cooking oil into valuable resources that contribute to the production of biofuels and other renewable energy sources.

Wellbred has pledged to retain all 35 employees of La Nivernaise de Raffinage SAS, ensuring a seamless transition and allowing the company to continue supplying the domestic market. The acquisition is also expected to promote innovations in refining more difficult waste streams.

The integration of La Nivernaise de Raffinage SAS into Wellbred’s renewables desk in Geneva offers new opportunities for growth, diversification, and collaboration. The combined expertise of both companies is expected to drive expansion of the refinery and contribute to the broader goals of renewable energy production.

Wellbred’s Renewables desk, established in 2022, has focused on the supply of biofuels to Scandinavian markets and the marine sector. With this acquisition, the company is set to expand its presence into global trading of feedstocks and distribution of biodiesel into France, Germany, and Spain.
