EnviTec and Byont launch first Belgian biogas plant with CO2 liquefaction tech

EnviTec Biogas, in partnership with Dutch energy provider Byont, has signed its first contract to build a biogas upgrading plant with CO2 liquefaction in Belgium. The plant will connect to an existing biogas facility and is scheduled to complete in July 2026. It will inject 735 Nm³/h of biomethane into the Belgian gas grid.

On-site, the plant will produce 24 tons of bio-LCO2 daily, supporting green energy supply and the circular economy of CO2.

EnviTec will implement the EnviThan gas upgrading system with CO2 liquefaction and convert the existing biogas plant to meet current standards. This ensures that the entire plant complies with the latest industry regulations and standards for biogas production.

Additionally, two more biogas plants operated by Byont are in the planning and approval stages, aiming for similar biomethane and CO2 liquefaction conversion.

Byont focuses on developing, operating, and investing in biogas projects across Benelux and Germany, converting organic residues into renewable gases. Their projects actively contribute to building a decarbonized energy future through the production of biomethane and bio-LNG.
