Covation Biomaterials launches sustainable biobased PTMEG

Covation Biomaterials has announced its latest innovation, CovationBio® bioPTMEG. This advanced polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG) offers high performance with a reduced environmental impact.

BioPTMEG serves as a biobased alternative to traditional petroleum-based PTMEG. Its launch aims to help customers decrease their dependence on non-renewable materials while maintaining performance in applications like spandex, polyurethanes, and thermoplastic elastomers.

The sustainability benefits of CovationBio® bioPTMEG include a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil-based products. The product is fully biobased, sourced from annually renewable resources. Additionally, it utilizes feedstocks, such as corncobs, that do not compete with food supplies, further minimizing reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels.

CovationBio emphasizes the “drop-in” performance of its new product, allowing manufacturers to switch to bio-based materials without extensive changes to existing processes.

Mr. Feifeng You, Chairman of CovationBio, stated that the company’s vision is to develop a sustainable, decarbonized materials industry. He expressed pride in launching CovationBio® bioPTMEG, which uses carbon absorbed from the atmosphere by plants. This innovation aims to enhance quality of life while reducing carbon footprints, fulfilling their responsibility to future generations. You invites stakeholders to collaborate in creating a greener and more sustainable world.
