CBE JU has published its Annual Work Programme for 2023 as well as information about the next call for project proposals. €215.5 million will be dedicated to advancing competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe.
The Annual Work Programme 2023 is the result of a joint effort from the European Commission, the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) and the CBE JU Programme Office.
CBE JU will continue supporting the scaling up of technologies leading to industrial deployment, therefore boosting investment and jobs’ creation, while also aiming to achieve the goals outlined in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) 2030. To deliver on its objectives, the Programme will fund projects that respect the principles of circularity, sustainability, and planetary boundaries.
CBE JU also continues to reinforce the deployment of bio-based innovation at regional level with the active involvement of local actors. Its public-private funding scheme intends to boost innovation and market deployment.
The Programme has three main objectives; accelerating the innovation and development processes of bio-based solutions by funding actions focusing on testing and upscaling the use of novel technologies for converting bio-based feedstock into innovative and circular solutions; accelerating market deployment of existing mature and innovative bio-based solutions by promoting and supporting actions to scale up innovative bio-based processes, products, and applications; and finally, developing a high level of environmental performance of bio-based industrial systems through different types of actions.
The Annual Work Programme includes the 2023 call for proposals with an anticipated overall indicative budget of €215.5 million, which will support the strategic orientations defined in the SRIA. The call will fund three types of actions: Research and Innovation Actions (RIAs); Innovation Actions (IAs); and Coordination and Support Actions (CSAs).
CBE JU calls are fully open and welcome project proposals from researchers, industries and innovators from Europe, as well as from international partners and associated countries.
