Brightseed and Haleon to accelerate plant-based innovation using AI

Brightseed, a company specializing in AI-driven discovery of bioactive compounds, has announced a strategic partnership with Haleon, a global consumer health company. The collaboration aims to accelerate the identification of plant-based small molecules that could benefit human health, leveraging Brightseed’s proprietary AI platform, Forager®.

Forager is designed to map bioactive compounds found in plants and natural sources, as well as to identify their mechanisms of action within the human body. Under the terms of the partnership, Haleon will gain direct access to Forager, enabling its scientists to incorporate AI-powered natural compound discovery into their research and product development processes. This integration is intended to support Haleon’s goal of delivering science-led health solutions rooted in natural ingredients.

“This partnership enhances our scientific capabilities and could lead to groundbreaking health innovations,” said Sandrine Alvarado, Vice President and Head of Future Horizons R&D at Haleon. She emphasized that the collaboration aims to accelerate discovery and innovation based on trusted scientific principles.

Brightseed’s AI approach has previously contributed to insights into plant compounds with potential applications in areas such as metabolic health, gut health, and immunity. The partnership with Haleon reflects a shared emphasis on science-backed innovation and the development of next-generation natural health products.

Lee Chae, CEO and Co-Founder of Brightseed, highlighted the potential of Forager’s technology to expand discovery possibilities that might otherwise be difficult to achieve. He stated that integrating Forager into Haleon’s research ecosystem could help translate these possibilities into new health solutions, reinforcing Haleon’s commitment to improving health through scientifically validated, nature-inspired products.
