Anaergia, through its subsidiary Anaergia S.r.l., has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Capwatt Biomethane Unipessoal, Lda. This agreement includes plans to design and construct nine facilities for biomethane production from agro-industrial waste in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.

The projects are expected to be completed within the next 30 months. They are projected to generate over USD $43 million in total revenue for Anaergia. The company will handle the design of each facility, implementing advanced processes to enhance efficiency.

The new plants will utilize various proprietary systems developed by Anaergia, including anaerobic digesters. These facilities aim to strengthen Europe’s green energy infrastructure and increase biomethane production.

Sérgio Rocha, CEO of Capwatt, noted the agreement aims for the nine new facilities to produce a total of 556,000 MWh annually of high-quality biomethane. Rocha emphasized Capwatt’s commitment to sustainable energy and the acceleration of the energy transition.

Assaf Onn, CEO of Anaergia, highlighted that this agreement strengthens the existing relationship with Capwatt. Previous collaborations involved Anaergia’s equipment and technical expertise at two biomethane facilities in Portugal and one in Italy.

This partnership marks a significant step forward in advancing renewable energy production in Southern Europe. It aligns with the region’s goals for sustainable development and energy transition initiatives. The successful implementation of these facilities will contribute to the growing demand for green energy solutions.
