AMSilk launches silk protein-based ingredients for consumer care market

AMSilk announced its entry into the consumer care market with two new silk protein-based products: AMSilk4Shine and AMSilk4Care.

AMSilk4Shine offers a sustainable, high-performance alternative to petroleum-based polymers used in dishwashing and cleaning products. It aims to reduce environmental impact by replacing traditional plastics.

AMSilk4Care is a pure silk protein formulation designed for brand owners and ingredient suppliers. It enables testing and development in various household and personal care applications.

Silk proteins leverage unique chemical and structural properties, forming ultra-thin, surface-adhering coatings. These coatings provide high performance and surface protection.

AMSilk proteins are biodegradable per OECD 301B standards, reducing the product’s carbon footprint by 53% and chemical footprint by 57%. This supports formulators’ sustainability goals.

In dishwashing products, petroleum-based polymers break down into microplastics, contaminating waterways and harming marine life. These microplastics can also affect human health.

The silk protein launch aligns with shifting consumer behavior toward safer, eco-friendly, and health-conscious products. As brands move toward biodegradable solutions, AMSilk offers a breakthrough ingredient that eliminates harmful chemicals.

AMSilk’s innovations support the EU’s goal to reduce microplastic pollution by 30% by 2030. Their silk proteins help meet strict environmental regulations.

Ulrich Scherbel, CEO of AMSilk, stated that AMSilk4Shine and AMSilk4Care push bio-based consumer solutions forward. He emphasized affordability, performance, and sustainability.

This move marks a significant step for AMSilk, expanding its application beyond textiles to household and personal care sectors. The company’s success in producing silk-based fibers for textiles sets it apart from competitors. Its new ingredients demonstrate the versatile potential of silk proteins across industries.

AMSilk continues to innovate, exploring additional applications for its advanced silk protein technology in various markets.
