Remilk and Gad Dairies launch cow-free milk in Israel

Remilk, a leader in producing real dairy proteins without cows, and Gad Dairies, a major Israeli dairy brand, announced the launch of “The New Milk.” The product offers the taste and nutrition of traditional milk and is now available in cafés and restaurants across Israel. Starting January 2026, it will be sold in major supermarkets, with additional products to follow.

The New Milk is made from real milk proteins created through a fermentation process that involves no animals. It is identical in taste and texture to cow’s milk and is rich in nutrients. The initial launch includes three products: a Barista Milk for cafes, restaurants, and hotels, and two retail products: everyday milk and vanilla-flavored milk coming next month.

Remilk’s protein has received approval from the U.S. FDA, Israel’s Ministry of Health, and other markets including Canada and Singapore. Unlike plant-based alternatives, Remilk’s proteins are identical to those in cow’s milk, allowing for dairy products that match traditional milk in flavor, texture, and functionality. The technology behind this innovation was developed over five years with over $150 million in investment.

Gad Dairies combines its traditional expertise with Remilk’s technology to produce The New Milk. It is lactose-free, cholesterol-free, fortified with calcium and vitamins, contains 75% less sugar than regular milk, and is kosher-pareve, making it suitable for all consumers.

Recent surveys in Israel show that 92% of people drink cow’s milk, and 61% also consume alternatives. Over half of Israelis mix both but many find current substitutes lack flavor. Taste remains the key factor influencing choice, especially among kosher-observant consumers.
